Rebellion isn't yet a developer known by name -- at least not here in the States. After picking up the 2000AD comic book assets in... 1999 (so close to being poetic, isn't it?), the team set out to make the most of the universe they'd just acquired.

It wasn't until the surprisingly good Rogue Trooper hit that the developer really seemed to hit their stride. The Eidos-published game was beautiful, the gameplay was a perfect mix of run-and-gun style shooting and cover-based tactics and the storyline good enough to condense a fairly lengthy graphic novel into something interactive and gripping.

Though the game was good, the engine the developers used, dubbed Asura, has been the secret to pumping out quite a few games in a short span (the most recent was the PSP-only Miami Vice released as a prequel to the events of the recent movie remake starring Colin Farrel and Jamie Fox.

Asura's cross-platform flexibility is being put to use again in their latest project, a PSP conversion of Neversoft's Gun, but as we discovered (and you soon will), it was anything but a straight port -- not only because Sony says that's a big no-no, but because the development team was eager to add their own bits and pieces to the mix.

Multiplayer, a lengthened set of mid-game missions and development, and a truly free-roaming world were all pulled together for one of the most ambitious PSP games to date. Read on for the full scoop.
